What is Schizophrenia?DefinitionSchizophrenia is a serious and surprisingly common brain disease -- worldwide, more people suffer from schizophrenia than from type 1 diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, or multiple sclerosis. Each person's experience is unique, but most schizophrenics suffer distorted thinking, hallucinations, and a reduced ability to feel normal emotions. Such symptoms usually can be controlled with medical treatment, but at present there is no known cause or cure. | |
