The brain in Schizophrenia

Overview
It is not well understood exactly what goes wrong in the cells of the brain that leads to schizophrenia. Although no one theory has been proven, several have been put forward. The two most common are that schizophrenia is caused by a developmental problem that has disrupted the brain's normal structure, and that it is tied to a malfunction in the production and/or disposal of neurotransmitters, specifically one called dopamine.
