Treatment

Bone Marrow Transplant
Bone marrow transplant combined with high-dose chemotherapy, although recently discussed at length in the media, is currently recommended only as an experimental treatment for women with breast cancer. In this procedure, bone marrow destroyed by the chemotherapy is replaced with bone marrow that has been obtained 1) from the patient, before the chemotherapy, or 2) from a donor. So far, medical research studies have failed to show that this treatment has any measurable benefit, but studies are ongoing.
