Anatomy/Function

Lymph Nodes
Each breast also contains a chain of lymph nodes, which drain into more lymph nodes under the arm. Found throughout the body, lymph nodes help drain fluid that has leaked out of the circulation back into the bloodstream -- so they help transport cells, including cancer cells, to different places in the body. When breast cancer spreads from the original (primary) tumor, it usually goes to the lymph nodes first.
