Anatomy/Function

Lobules and Ducts
Each breast consists of groups of cells called "lobules," in which specialized cells manufacture and secrete milk during breastfeeding. Each lobule drains into a tube called a "duct," which carries the milk to the nipple. Most breast cancers begin in the cells within these ducts. The lobules and ducts are surrounded by fatty tissue.
