ChemotherapyChemotherapy's Effect on Red Blood CellsA normal hemoglobin count is 14-18 for men and 12-16 for woman. But if chemotherapy has destroyed the cells in your bone marrow that turn into red blood cells, that count will be much lower. Your cells will not be getting enough oxygen. A simple blood test measures the number of red blood cells in your blood and your hemoglobin level and lets your doctor know if your exhaustion and weakness are symptoms of anemia due to chemotherapy. | |
