What Are the Symptoms of Astigmatism?

The most common symptom of astigmatism is blurred vision.   If you are only slightly affected, you may not notice that much is wrong with your vision.   More significant astigmatism may cause significant vision problems.

It is particularly important to remember, that children with vision problems may not realize their vision is blurred.   After all, they may never have seen the world in focus. That's why it's a good idea for children to have regular vision checks.

Here are some symptoms of astigmatism:

  • Blurring of small print, difficulty reading
  • Inability to see both near and distant without squinting

Children with vision problems such as astigmatism may experience some of the following:

  • Difficulty focusing on printed words and lines
  • Headaches, which can be caused by eyestrain
  • Eyestrain, or complaining of tired eyes
