HIP Health Plan Supplier Diversity Initiative
To all current and potential diversity suppliers:
Thank you for taking the time to learn about HIP's Supplier Diversity Initiative. Our Supplier Diversity Initiative is designed to complement existing purchasing activities, not replace them.
The following information will detail specifics on our Supplier Diversity Initiative. After reading the highlights, you should have a general understanding of how HIP does business as it relates to supplier diversity.
Statement of Purpose
HIP has a long history of involvement with and support of supplier diversity.
To this end, we are committed to continually building business alliances with certified diversified and woman owned suppliers. Through these alliances, we strive to provide our members with excellent products and services, encourage economic growth and strengthen the communities in which we work and live.
Our Commitment
HIP is committed to the inclusion of diversified and woman owned suppliers for competitive bid opportunities for the procurement of goods and services. Furthermore, we are committed to building a supplier base that reflects the diversity of the areas in which we operate.
Our Goal
To be the healthcare industry leader in Supplier Diversity as viewed by our members, suppliers and community.
Becoming a Supplier
Recognizing the difficulty for historically underutilized businesses to gain access to opportunity, HIP has developed and implemented a formal process to provide assistance to them. Suppliers seeking to do business with HIP must be fully competitive in:
- Superior Quality of Products/Services
- Customer Service/Clear Communication
- Competitive Pricing
- Accurate & Timely Deliverables
- Innovative Business Solutions and Technology
- Good Financial Standing
- Marketplace Success
- Reporting/Metrics
If a company is seeking to do business with HIP as a diversified supplier, they must be certified as such. HIP does not have a formal certification program; we honor New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. www.nynjmsdc.org Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), www.wbenc.com, regional, state and government certification. If a supplier is not certified, we encourage them to become certified.
Generally Accepted Definitions
