- Contracting with more than 160 hospitals, including major acute care institutions, in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts to provide services to our members.

- The organization was formed to provide quality health care to persons of moderate income through the efforts of former New York City Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia.

- HIP provides health insurance coverage for New York State and federal employees and labor unions.
- The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has awarded HIP's commercial HMO and POS with Excellent Accreditation. HIP also earned the "NCQA Quality Plus Distinction in Member Connections" for its Commercial HMO/POS products combined.
- HIP's Web site, hipusa.comŽ, was one of the first in the nation to be available in Chinese as well as English, Korean and Spanish.
