What Immunizations Do Teens Need?

Immunizations help prepare your body to fight deadly diseases. Before immunizations, kids died of diseases like whooping cough, measles and polio. Some of these germs still exist today, but because we start immunizations early, kids don't get some of these diseases as often. So stay wise, get immunized!

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),

You need
  • Two (2) chicken pox (VZV) vaccines on or before the 13th birthday.
  • Three doses of hepatitis B vaccine at recommended intervals before your 13th birthday.
  • A second dose of MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) by your 13th birthday.
  • A tetanus booster every 10 years.
  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine (minimum age: 9 years). For females at age 13-18 if not previously vaccinated.

Recommended Immunization Schedule 2007

Be sure to keep your vaccination records in a safe place. You will need this documentation again when attending camp, entering college and applying for certain jobs.
