Integrative Wellness
Affiliations
HIP has long had an interest in the developing field of evidence-based mind/body approaches to care and seeks affiliations with established organizations that further our ability to incorporate the latest in scientific advances for the benefit of our members.
Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine
Our department's affiliation with the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine (formerly Mind/Body Medical Institute) and with Herbert Benson M.D., founder and on the faculty of Harvard Medical School is one way HIP meets this objective. This affiliation gives HIP ongoing access to the Institute's staff of experts as well as enables us to offer our members several highly successful clinical programs developed there. The first such program that we are making available to our members is the Cardiac Wellness Program, designed to provide comprehensive tools to improve heart health. Other Institute programs, which we hope to incorporate in the future, include cancer care, infertility, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, weight loss, perimenopause/menopause, calm mother/happy baby and healthy lifestyles.
Stanford University
Stanford University developed, tested and evaluated Healthy Living with Chronic Conditions, a course that empowers people living with a chronic disease to live a healthier, fuller and more independent life. Workshop facilitators participate in an intensive week long training session led by Master Trainers who themselves are trained by Stanford University.
