Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

How is CAD diagnosed?
If your physician suspects that you have CAD they will recommend a stress test. This test is a general screening tool to see how your heart works under physical activity. An electrocardiogram (ECG) is used to record the electrical activity of your heart and blood pressure readings are taken. Generally, this test is used to:

  • Check for heart disease
  • Figure out causes of chest pain.
  • See if treatment for heart disease is effective.

What can you do about CAD?
Consult with your physician on how you can control CAD by making healthy lifestyle changes to prevent further plaque build up in your arteries.

Talk with your physician about:

  • Cholesterol and Lipid monitoring and control.

  • Controlling your blood pressure.
  • Smoking cessation.
